Cost of Being an Archaeologist

Being an Archaeologist is very costly in time and money. In order to be competitive in the job market you must have at least a Masters degree in some form of archaeology. The cost for me receive the education I mentioned earlier would be, approximately 240,000 dollars for four years at Ponoma College and between 50,000 to 100,000 dollars. It would also take apprx. 6 years at least to receive the necessary degree’s. Another issue is the amount of debt that Archaeologists incur takes a long time to pay off due to the relatively low salaries that Archaeologists make. Included with this post is a graph depicting the average salaries of an archaeologist. Archaeologists don’t do this job for the money, rather they do it for their own mental and spiritual benefit. This job can be extremely rewarding to the right person, if their willing to put in the dedication and the money.
